Position overview
The NWCA State Chair serves as the primary liaison between the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the wrestling community within their state. This is a volunteer leadership role that helps promote NWCA programs, recognize outstanding coaches and athletes, and grow the sport of wrestling at the scholastic level.
What to expect
- Volunteer role. This is an unpaid volunteer position with no stipend. NWCA provides complimentary membership.
- Minimal time commitment. Most of the year the role takes very little time. The biggest lift comes in the spring, when you work with your state’s coaches to select and submit your Coach of the Year and Assistant Coaching Staff of the Year winners (due Sunday, April 11, 2027).
- Meetings. The only scheduled meeting is one Fall conference call. Two session options are offered, and you attend just one.
- Convention. We’d like every State Chair to attend the NWCA Convention if at all possible. Use code HSREP27 at checkout for $100 off registration. If you can’t attend, name a proxy from your state.
- Stay informed. Read the monthly NWCA newsletter to keep up with programs, deadlines and initiatives.
Eligibility
- Must be a current member of the NWCA. We provide complimentary membership.
